Welcome to Certified Fangirl!
Fangirl 101!
By kass
Hello and welcome to “Certified Fangirl.” This blog/site has been a long thought out idea. I've always loved being a fangirl whether it was a concert i've been counting down the days till or a new book I had finished and need to give my thoughts on it asap. Whatever may be the new obsession, it's always more fun when you're a fangirl.
Fangirling became a part of my life at the ripe age of 6 when a certain band called “One Direction” was put together by a certain judge. Before I knew it, I needed every & anything 1D related. Which included by not limited to backpacks, hairbrushes, shirts, shoes, toothbrushes and so so much more. Whatever had One Direction on it I made sure to purchase.
Then as I got a little older another band popped into the equation. 5 Seconds of Summer opened up for One Direction on the “Where we are tour.” I instantly grew in love with them (more specifically..the bassist ‘Calum Hood’), I mean how could you not? They were the “bad/emo” band who wore ripped skinny jeans and flannels. Which had me, my sister, & just about any other girl in shambles in 2013.
Now you may be saying “isn't fangirling weird?” “don't you get embarrassed about fangirling?” My honest answer is, no I don’t because of a story I’m about to tell.
Which they did, we had gotten the blue one which if I'm not mistaken was Calum’s (which is my favorite, so I like to think it was God’s doing.) Anyways, we bought it and for the rest of the drive back to the condo me & my sister sang out to the CD, but when “Disconnected” came on the whole family started to jam out. Putting the windows down while the chorus blared through my dads old GMC. I'll never forget how that memory always makes me feel somewhat connected to my childhood.
So when asked if I’m ever embarrassed to fangirl over certain hobbies my answer will always be no. Not because I shouldn't be but because every verse, band, movie, book, song, team has a part of my life with it. Nostalgia will continue to help me never forget that being a fangirl is one of the best things I’ve ever done.
